Marcellina wants Figaro, who wants to marry Susanna, who is also desired by the Count, which does not amuse the Countess, who in turn is hounded by Cherubino. Excuse me? It will take more than a few lovely arias and virtuoso ensemble scenes to get to the bottom of this.
Le nozze di Figaro brought the house down in Mozart's time and to this day remains one of the most popular and most enjoyable operas of all time. The current production at the FNO has been uniquely successful, with 29 years and counting!
