A popular soup restaurant is badly in need of new wait staff. The restaurant's cleaning woman Sofia dreams of waiting on tables, but the haughty shift manager takes no notice of Sofia's eager aspirations. When the shift manager and the restaurant's sole table attendant leave to pick up the fresh ingredients for the day, Sofia finally has the chance to try her wings in the position she has long coveted. Unfortunately, everything does not go according to plan. Soon Sofia has whipped up a real stew - one that calls on the resources of everyone involved to make it right. What will happen to poor Sofia? And how about the unsuspecting tourist with a camera full of incriminating photos? Will the restaurant open in time? Or will its customers go hungry?
