Overview
The Venturous Playwright Fellowship, a partnership between the Playwrights' Center and the Venturous Theater Fund, supports formally adventurous, large-scale or boldly conceived plays that might otherwise go unproduced. Four two-year fellowships are awarded per cycle, each with a $30,000 annual stipend, more than $15,000 per year in development and artist support, and travel funds; partner theaters that commit to producing the play are eligible for production subsidies of up to $75,000. The fellowship is not an open call: roughly 50 invited playwright-nominators generate a Venturous List, and only nominated playwrights, in partnership with a producing theater, may apply.
Eligibility
By nomination only; no unsolicited applications. Nominated playwrights partner with a US 501(c)(3) producing theater to apply. Four fellowships per two-year cycle.
Notes
Nominators (~50 playwrights) generate the 'Venturous List'. Listed for completeness; not an open call.
