Overview
The USITT Rising Star Award, sponsored by LDI/Live Design, is given annually to a young professional in scenic, lighting, sound or projection design who is within their first four years of professional work after completing their highest degree. Winners receive a $2,000 cash award, complimentary registration to the USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo, a one-year membership, a certificate, an award luncheon and promotion through USITT's podcast and channels. Candidates must be nominated through the USITT awards portal; the 2026 cycle ran September 8 to November 13, 2025, with the award presented March 19, 2026 in Long Beach.
Eligibility
Nominees must be in their first four years of professional (non-academic) work after completing their highest degree; must be nominated; scenic, lighting, sound and/or projection design. No entry fee.
Notes
2026 nominations ran Sept 8 - Nov 13, 2025; presented at USITT annual conference in March. 2026 recipient: Gisela Estrada.
