The Sun Valley Playwright's Residency (SVPR) is an Idaho nonprofit that each year selects one established playwright to receive a commission and a yearlong residency, including dedicated writing time in October at the Ernest and Mary Hemingway House in Ketchum through a partnership with The Community Library. Residents share their work with local audiences through free readings, conversations and school programs in the Wood River Valley and Boise, and SVPR also supports a New York City playwrights group that grew out of Martyna Majok's residency. Resident playwrights are invited rather than selected through an open call; the 2026-27 resident is Talene Monahon, following Stephen Karam, Max Posner, Rajiv Joseph, Martyna Majok and David Cale.
By invitation; residents to date are established, award-winning playwrights; emphasis on community engagement.
2026-27 resident: Talene Monahon. Inaugural resident David Cale. Not an open call.
