Overview
The Ojai Playwrights Conference is a new-play development program held each summer in Ojai, California, culminating in a public New Works Festival. Selected playwrights spend roughly two weeks in residence developing their scripts with directors, dramaturgs and actors before festival readings. Scripts are accepted through periodic open submission windows announced on the organization's website and social media (the most recent posted window was December 2023 for the 2024 conference); the 29th conference ran July 19 - August 2, 2026.
Eligibility
Open submission; 10-page sample + full script + 250-word description and development statement.
