Project Weeks

Mercury Store's Project Weeks give NYC-based directors, choreographers and devisers a Monday-to-Friday residency in the company's four-studio Gowanus warehouse to test an early-stage idea in three dimensions rather than around a table. Each project includes a fee for the lead artist, workspace, a company of paid actors, a materials and collaborator budget and artistic dialogue. Selection is a closed process (a meeting followed by an application) aimed at established theatre makers not currently enrolled in degree programs; the company suggests inviting staff to see a production or workshop as the way to get on its radar.

Actors are hired into project companies (paid) but lead-artist slots are for directors/devisers. Directing Technique training program applications reopen fall 2026.
