Overview
The Goodman Playwrights Unit is a season-long residency for Chicago-area playwrights, established in 2010. Up to four writers each year receive a $3,000 commission to write a brand-new play, meet twice monthly with the Goodman's literary staff and fellow cohort members, and are given mid-point and final readings at the theatre. Unit members are treated as artists-in-residence with invitations to opening nights, rehearsals and special events; applicants must have had at least one fully produced play and apply by email with a statement, resume and 20-page sample.
Eligibility
Chicago-area playwrights; up to four per year; 500-word statement, resume, 20-page sample required.
Notes
Established 2010; bi-monthly meetings with literary staff; artists-in-residence access to rehearsals and openings.
