Overview

The Michael Maggio Directing Fellowship is a year-long, full-time artistic-administrative position at Chicago's Goodman Theatre for an emerging Chicago-based director who has directed at least two professional productions. The fellow assistant directs mainstage productions, supports readings and workshops, reads and responds to scripts, helps produce IDEAA events with the Northwestern Directing Fellow, and is mentored by Goodman's BOLD Artistic Producer. Applications for the 2026-27 fellowship closed March 1, 2026, with virtual info sessions held in February.

Eligibility

Chicago-based directors who have directed at least two professional (non-academic) full productions. Two recommendation forms required.

2025-26 Fellow: Lo Williams. Fellow assistant directs mainstage productions and co-produces IDEAA events with the Northwestern Directing Fellow. Virtual info sessions held in February.
