Jim Henson Foundation Puppetry Residency at the O'Neill

The Jim Henson Foundation Puppetry Residency at the O'Neill provides space and support for an artist or company completing the final stage of a new work of puppet theater for adults that is expected to premiere within a year. Residencies last up to two weeks in spring or fall windows, accommodate up to 10 participants with full room and board, include dramaturgical support from the O'Neill's literary office, and come with a $7,500 grant from the Jim Henson Foundation, though no technical equipment or support is provided; the primary artist must be American, and preference goes to projects connected to a Henson Foundation Production Grant. Letters of intent (a project description, artist bio, and one-page visual in a single PDF) are due via Submittable by August 9, 2026, with about five finalists invited to submit full applications in mid-October and final selections made by early December.
