Overview
Chautauqua Theater Company offers summer Design Fellowships to early-career and graduate-level designers in scenic, lighting, sound, costume and projection design. Fellows assist the mainstage designers, serve as the design teams for readings and the FutureNow New Play Labs, and live in company housing on the Chautauqua Institution grounds. The ten-week engagement carries a $4,500 stipend, CTC-covered housing and a $250 travel stipend; applications go through SlideRoom with a cover letter, resume and portfolio, with a January 15 deadline.
Eligibility
Early-career designers and graduate-level candidates; historically filled by MFA students (NYU, Yale, UT Austin, CMU, BU, CalArts) and recent graduates. Fellows assist mainstage designers and receive other design opportunities.
