Fans of the funkier edge of the world of jam music (think Arrested Development or Sublime) have been lining up for Wookiefoot shows for years, and their groove-filled and colorful exploits have held down the Twin Cities jam scene for just as long. Imagine the brainchild of Dr. Seuss, Captain Beefheart, Frank Zappa, Stanley Kubrick and Rube Goldberg, and you begin to understand the spectacle of a That 1 Guy. Classically trained musician Mike Silverman, aka “That 1 Guy,” is the inventor and player of The Magic Pipe, a seven-foot-tall instrument resembling a harp, but played like a futuristic gutbucket made of swiveling pipes, metal gears, bass strings, electronic buttons, an Appalachian handsaw, and an electric cowboy boot.

O’fosho has been bringing its brand of jam-based electronic blues funk to the Midwest for the last three years. With elements of blues, jazz, country, bluegrass, and EDM, O’fosho looks to create a unique live experience shared by the musicians and audience. The band’s sophomore album, “Forget the Genre, Hear the Music” was released in the summer of 2013.
