PREPARATION

Please prepare an uptempo and a ballad from the Broadway genre. Be prepared to be asked to stay to dance.

Norb Joerder (director) and Marilynn Wick (Producer) will be present at the auditions. Accompanist will be provided.

Non-AEA actors may also be seen as time permits.

PIRATES OF PENZANCE

Major-General Stanley: A one star-general in the British Army, Major-General Stanley is the protector of many young women, his wards.

The Pirate King: A largely unsuccessful commander, the pirate king, although a flamboyant braggart, is too tender-hearted to do what pirates are supposed to do.

Samuel: The pirate king's lieutenant

Frederic: A pirate trainee, Frederic was apprenticed to the pirates by mistake. He is a noble young man who falls in love with Mabel but puts his sense of duty above everything else, including love.

Sergeant of Police: The leader of a bumbling squad of policemen, the good-natured sergeant of police is committed to stopping the pirates.

Mabel: Major-General Stanley's youngest ward, quickly falls in love with Frederic.

Edith: Another of Major-General Stanley’s daughters

Kate: Another of Major-General Stanley's daughters

Isabel: Another of Major-General Stanley's daughters

Ruth: A pirate maid-of-all-work and Frederic’s nursery maid, Ruth mistakenly bound Frederic to a pirate instead of a pilot. She is in love with Frederic and feels betrays when he falls in love with Mabel.

Miss Hannigan: Role CAST. Seeking Understudy. Orphanage matron. Hates children. Adult (any age), female. Strong vocal and acting

Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks: Billionaire businessman, who opens his home and heart to Annie. Older adult, Male. Strong vocal (Baritone), dancing and acting

Grace: Warbucks’ secretaty, who loves Annie. Young adult, female. Strong vocal and acting

“Rooster” Hannigan: Miss Hannigan’s disreputable brother. Young adult, male. Strong vocal, dancing and acting

Lily St. Regis: Rooster’s girlfriend. Young adult, female. Strong vocal, dancing and acting

Molly, Pepper, Duffy, July, Tessie, Kate: Orphans with speaking parts. 6 – Pre-teen, girls. Strong vocal, dancing and acting

President Roosevelt: Aids in the search for Annie’s parents. Older adult, male. Some vocal, strong acting

Louis Brandeis: Supreme Court Justice, who aids in Annie’s adoption. Older adult, male. Speaking part

Bert Healy: Radio announcer, who agrees to broadcast an appeal to Annie’s parents. Adult (any age), male. Strong vocal

The Boylan Sisters: Trio that sings on the radio. 3 – Older teen or young adult, females. Strong vocal (harmonies)

Lt. Ward: A policeman sent to find Annie. Adult (any age), male. Speaking part

Drake: Warbuck’s butler and good friend. Older adult, male, Some vocal, strong acting

ENSEMBLE
Warbuck’s Mansion staff: Maids, cooks, servants, etc.. Older teens and any adults, Vocal and dancing

Roosevelt’s Cabinet: Cabinet Secretaries. Adult (any age), males & 1 female, Some vocal

LOTTIE CHILD – Non singing female role aged 45 – 60

IRENE ROTH – Supporting mezzo role, aged 25 – 33 .

LANK HAWKINS – Supporting male role, aged 30 – 45,

TESS – Female follies dance director aged 22 – 32

PATSY – Female follies girl aged 18 – 32,

EVERETT BAKER – Male baritone, Polly’s father, aged 48 – 60.

EUGENE FODOR – Male baritone, cameo role, aged 40 – 55

MOOSE, MINGO, SAM – All aged 18 – 35, all have small dialogue and form the Cowboy Trio who have solo pieces and sing with the male chorus. Ideally need to be strong dancers who tap.

Ensemble – male and female dancer/singers.
