Breakdown

This show exists because of the producers’ love and passion for a popular late 60s California pop/rock, particularly the vocal blend and harmonies of the style. Achieving that Vocal sound and BLEND is key. We are looking for actors with smooth, vibrato free voices that blend well together along with the ability to sing constant 4 part harmonies. Please stay away from traditional “Broadway sound” and audition material.

TANNER HAMILTON – early 20’s, quiet confidence, handsome, artistic, charismatic, intelligent, our lead. He comes back home to his beloved beach town after being in the city, has currently lost his footing and feels unsure. Stand out Tenor. Strong actor and mover. Guitar skills a plus, but not essential.

BROOKE PENNINGTON – early 20’s, an All-American girl down deep, but is currently acting out, a bit of a wild child. Beautiful, emotional, tough, strong. Soprano with range, strong actress and dancer.

RIP TURNER – early 20’s, handsome, built, aggressive, outgoing, self-assured to the point of cocky, a little bit of a dark side. Big presence. Strong actor, mover, funny, bari-tenor with big voice.

NICK WILLIAMS – late-30’s to 50’s, super cool, older surfer, with perspective that comes from a tough life. A bit weathered by the beach, and experience. A paternal figure. Could be a reformed partier, turned naturalist. Great comedic skills, strong actor, baritone with range.

NELSON PENNINGTON – teenager (18 to play younger), Brook’s little brother, scrappy, cool, clever, funny, way into gadgets, building things, a skater kid when skaters built their own skate boards. Protective of his sister, looks up to Tanner. Tenor. Dance skills a plus.

PAUL PENNINGTON – Middle-aged, Brook’s father, over protective, Mad Man corporate-type, loving but hidden under grief and fear. Baritone. Strong actor.
