- Rory (she/they) Black, 39, queer, a Mate (Assistant Manager) at Trader Joe’s; Norah’s older sibling; Lives in Oakland, California. The child that made a new home.
- Norah (she/her) Black, 33, straight, a therapist; Rory’s younger sister; lives in Atlanta, Georgia. The child who stayed.
- VOICE/VOICE MADE FLESH Black, eternal. Fluid, plural, singular. The one who knows the secret ways.

- Birdie (she/her) - Neurodivergent/Autistic, early 30s, any ethnicity; Mal & Mona's only daughter.
- Lin/Wolf 1 (she/her) - Neurotypical, 40s, any ethnicity; Birdie's new partner.
- Mal/Wolf 2 (he/him) - Neurotypical, 70s, any ethnicity; Birdie's father & Mona's husband.
