APPOINTMENTS

AEA members Please email Casting@theatrehorizon.org. Include the following: Your name, phone number, all available time slots and preference, as well as any time during the day that you are NOT available. Lunch break will be from 1:00-1:30PM. You will be contacted by a staff member to confirm your appointment within 24 hours.

CONTRACT

SPT $500/week

SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles in the upcoming season. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

All actors will be given a 4 minute slot:
Prepare 2 contrasting monologues OR 2 song selections with an accompanist we provide OR 1 of each. Bring picture and resume.

Entrance on E. Penn under red awning. We are located on the 1st floor.

Non-Equity talent are not eligible for appointments, but will be seen as time permits on a walk-in basis after all AEA and EMC talent.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

ALL ROLES AVAILABLE:

Olivia- a half-Latina teenager with a sharp intellect and rich imagination, though deeply troubled. in tireless pursuit of community and love. Beatriz’s daughter. (she/her/hers)

Beatriz- a Mexican-American woman in her late 30s- early 40s with a dynamic, “no-nonsense” air. Fiercely independent, to a fault, though disarmingly vulnerable. Olivia’s mom. (she/her/hers)

Pearl- an African-American and/or Black teenager with an infectious, adventurous spirit. Optimistic and intelligent. Loyal friend to Olivia. (she/her/hers)

Mo- A salt of the earth, retired Southern man with enough love in his heart to cover the continental United States. Excellent comedic timing. Open-ethnicity. Higgins’s husband. (he/him/his)

Higgins- Another salt of the earth, retired Southern man with enough love in his heart to cover the continental United States. Excellent comedic timing. Open-ethnicity. Mo’s husband. (he/him/his)

Manuel- a Peruvian day laborer in his mid 30s- mid 50s with a poetic, romantic sensibility and thirst for life. Loves deeply and with abandon. Speaks English with a Spanish accent. Beatriz’s love interest. (he/him/his)

Ensemble/Castaways- 4 actors to play multiple characters.Can be any gender and ethnicity.

Della- a late 40s-late 50s, white, North-Carolinian woman with saccharine charm. Religious and socially conservative with an open heart. Avid and accomplished baker. Excellent comedic timing. Tim’s wife. (she/her/hers)

Jen- an early 30s, white, southern-raised, Brooklynite with a kind, considerate, and enthusiastic disposition. At odds with the intersection of her upbringing and liberal lifestyle, but determined to find harmony for herself and those she loves. Macy’s fiancee. (she/her/hers)

Macy- an early 30s, African-American and/or Black outspoken woman with zero tolerance for bigotry. Independent and fiercely intelligent. Passionate and loyal to her pursuit of a healthy, bountiful life of happiness with her fiancee, Macy. (she/her/hers)

Tim- a 50s-60s, white Southern man steeped deep in the American Dream. A plumber by trade. Hardened, though loving, by insecurity. Firm in his traditional values. Della’s husband. (he/him/his)
