COMPLETENESS
by Itamar Moses
Directed by Matt Pfeiffer
First Rehearsal: November 6, 2018
Performance Run: November 29 – December 23, 2018

Synopsis:
How does a computer scientist hook up with a molecular biologist? He blinds her with science, of course. When Elliot builds a computer program to help Molly with her research project, the variables in their evolving relationship shift as rapidly as the terms of their experiment. This deft and imaginative new ROM-comedy shows that even the most sophisticated algorithm may freeze in the face of life’s infinite possibilities.

Roles:

ELLIOTT [already cast]
Male, late 20s-30s.
Computer Science grad student. Loves what he studies. Outgoing nature, while studious. Fiercely intelligent, inquisitive and demanding of himself, with a kind heart. Sense of humor. Vulnerable. Ambitious.

MOLLY [already cast]
Female, late 20s-30s.
Microbiology grad student. Funny, pensive, protective. Loves what she studies. Very articulate about her work, demanding. An excellent listener; quick to scrutinize. Sharp, independent spirit, in search of something more for herself. Reckless. A seeker.

LAUREN / NELL / et al
Female, 20s-30s.
Lauren: late 20s-30s. Computer Science grad student. Dry sense of humor. Wants to be a straight shooter, but can be fickle.
Nell: early 20s. Undergrad. Shy, open-hearted, quietly smart.

DON / FRANKLIN / et al
Male, 30s-early 40s.
Don: 30s-early 40s. Microbiology associate professor. Jealous, hurt, in need of control, but also open to something or someone new. Can be authoritative, but is emotionally unsure of himself and what he needs.
Franklin: late 20s-30s. Grad student. Truly open-hearted “good guy”.

Three separate time periods collide in a small hotel room in Korea, mediated by a shape-shifting Jesus who first shows up as a bellboy. Among the Dead is a dark comedy about a family broken apart by betrayed promises, and finding each other again through SPAM, journals, and Jesus. Mostly Jesus.
