Please bring a resume and headshot, stapled together.

Non-Equity actors will be seen as walk-ins on a standby basis.

The Wilma Theater will also be attending the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia Equity Group Auditions on April 30, 2012.

Roles are not understudied. Please note that rehearsal and performance dates are currently subject to small changes.

ANGELS IN AMERICA: PERESTROIKA

Playwright: Tony Kushner

Rehearsal Period: August 7 – September 18, 2012

Performances: September 19 – October 21, 2012 (with possible extension)

All roles have been CAST. Actors will be considered for possible future replacements if necessary.

Roy M. Cohn:

50s-60s. Successful New York lawyer and unofficial power broker. CAST

Joe Pitt:

20s-30s. Mormon Republican. CAST

Harper Pitt:

20s-30s. Joe’s wife, an agoraphobic with a mild Valium addiction. CAST

Louis Ironson:

20s-30s. A word processor working for the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. CAST

Prior Walter:

20s-30s. Louis’s boyfriend. CAST

Hannah Pitt:

40s-50s. Joe’s mother who moves from Salt Lake City to New York City as her son’s marriage crumbles. CAST

Belize:

20s-30s. African-American character, former drag queen and former lover of Prior’s. CAST

The Angel:

40s-50s. Manifests as the Continental Principality of America. CAST

Nick

Mid to late 20s. A goofy guy with a genuine wit. He dulls down to a slapstick “buddy” persona in the office environment.

Vince

Mid to late 20s. A slick frat boy, definitely going places.

Nora

Mid to late 20s. She is an awkward young woman. Sexy but not pretty. Takes work very seriously.

Heather

Late 20s to early 30s. A nice but frenetic-looking girl. She can’t quite get anything right.

Jenny

Mid to late 20s. A pretty British chick impeccably dressed with all her shit together.

Justin

Mid to late 20s. The guy who always gets picked on at the office and sent on the worse jobs—but he’s a true believer in the work and a glutton for punishment.

UNDER THE WHALEBACK

Seeking:

Cassidy

A deckhand, aged 55. A legend among Hull fisherman. A loose cannon, drunk, wild, violent, charming, irresistible. Claims to be Darrel’s father. (Also plays Darrel-Aged 54 in Act 3)

Darrel

In Act 1, a deckie learner, aged 17. In Act 2, a deckhand, aged 24. In Act 1, young and impressionable. In Act 2, a settled presence among the wild men at sea (he’s reading James Joyce while others are looking at pornography).

Norman

A deckhand, aged 28. Tightly wound, excitable, angry. The deckhand who is most negatively impacted by the harsh conditions at sea. Ends up suffering a breakdown.Needs to be significantly shorter than actor playing Roc.

Roc

A deckhand, aged 31. Tall (6’4’”). Good mates with Norman—and his emotional opposite. Strong, slower of thought, mild, quiet.

Bill

A deckhand, aged 55. An older presence—more settled in his ways. He spends his spare time at sea carving fishbones into delicate butterflies for his children.

Bagnall

The third hand, aged 36. Has an air of authority.

Pat

Cigarette smuggler, aged 29. Dangerous, shifty, a liar—all qualities driven by a nihilism from losing his place in the world. (Played by the same actor who plays Norman in Act 2).

Elly

Age 9. Darrel’s daughter.

BOOTYCANDY

Performances: May 22, 2013 – June 16, 2013 (with possible extension)

Plays: Reverend Benson, Writer 3, Step Father, Larry, Old Granny: Black Man age 30-40

Plays: Roy, Clint, Moderator, Officiant, White Man: Caucasian Man age 20-40
