IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to expected high attendance at AEA on 11/9/11, only Equity Members will be seen at this call.
Please prepare EITHER a standard-repertoire monologue (2 minutes or less) OR a brief song in the style of Kurt Weill OR 16 bars of a song and a 1-minute monologue. Pieces from the shows are welcome. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided, but may not transpose.
Please bring a photo and resume, stapled back-to-back.

Macheath:
30s-40s. Shrewd, seductive criminal, with bourgeois aspirations and lethal charm. Strong baritenor.
Mr. Peachum:
40s-50s. Exploiter of misery; mistrusts everything. Baritone.
Mrs. Peachum:
40-50s. Mr. Peachum's wife and pragmatic helpmate. A take-no-prisoners opportunist. Mezzo soprano.
Polly Peachum:
20s. Disarmingly lovely and surprisingly tough, she defies her parents to marry Macheath, then takes over his gang strong. Soprano.
Tiger Brown:
40s. Bent cop, and buddy of Macheath's. Has protected Macheath from arrest.
Lucy Brown:
20s. Polly's rival for Mack's attentions. Jealous, feisty and excitable. Soprano.
Jenny Diver:
20s-30s. Macheath's favorite whore. Judas-like betrayer. Mezzo.
Professor Bernhardi by Arthur Schnitzler.
Professor Bernhardi:
Man. 50s-60s. Head of a private teaching hospital in Vienna. Highly principled surgeon. Wry sense of humor. His bearing is more that of a man of the world than a doctor.
Mr. Hochroitzpointer:
20s. Medical student. Pale and heavy. Kisses up to the medical faculty.
Nurse Ludmilla:
20s. Attractive, with alert, attentive eyes.
Dr Oskar Bernhardi:
20s. Professor Bernhardi's son and assistant. Obliging, but somewhat insecure.
Dr Kurt Pflugfelder:
Late 20s-30s First assistant to Professor Bernhardi. Both lively and somewhat severe.
Professor Ebenwald:
40s. Vice-Director of the Institute. Slim. He speaks honestly and in an occasionally over-colloquial manner.
Professor Tugendvetter:
50s. Professor of Dermatology and Syphilis. Purposely jovial, but also insecure and approval-seeking.
Dr Adler:
30s. Lecturer in Pathological Anatomy. Dark and lively, with sparkling eyes and a dueling scar.
Professor Cyprian:
60s-70s. Professor of Neuropathy. Lapses into lecturing without being aware of it.
The Priest:
20s-30s. Energetic and intelligent.
Professor Filitz:
40s. Professor of Gynecology. Handsome and blond.
Professor Flint:
50s. Minister of Education. Very amiable, with a not-entirely-unstudied diplomat’s mask.
Dr Löwenstein:
40s. Lecturer in Pediatrics. Somewhat hurried, with small eyes which he sometimes opens very wide.
Professor Pflugfelder:
60s. Professor of Optometry, and Kurt's father. Scholarly manner.
