Winner of our 2010 New Play Competition. Dallas playwright and former sports writer, Larry Herold takes a comic look back at a Dallas Cowboys training camp in 1966 when the whole media world is about to change. Television has landed in the form of the first woman reporter in a man’s world.
Callbacks will be held Sunday December 11, 2011 at 7:00 PM
Roles:
Zinc Tucker – crusty sportswriter, loves football, drinking and gambling – 40’s
Doyle Miller – even crustier sportswriter, sees the world changing, doesn’t much like it – 50’s
Scott Young – young newspaperman, naïve but catching on fast – 27
Red Gage – PR man whose only concerns are good publicity and selling tickets – 40
Jane Jordan – Smart, sexy TV reporter on the way up – 30
Crusher – once a boxer, now a hired thug – 30’s-50’s
(the role of Pick Waters has been precast)
Open to both Equity and Non-Equity. EMC points may be received for non-equity performers.
Rehearsals
Begin Monday January 16, 2012. Rehearsal schedule is Monday through Friday nights 7:00-11:00 PM
(with additional hours during tech week) and Saturdays (7 out of 8 ½ hours /times to be determined).
Performances
Are Thursday, February 9, 2012 through Sunday, March 18, 2019 at Stage West, 821 W Vickery.
[Note: performances will be Thur nights at 7:30, Fri & Sat nights at 8:00 and Sun matinees at 3:00]
