Performances are in a modern, open-air tent theatre in Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT.

Lunch from 1 - 2.

Theatre’s monitor begins sign-up at 10 AM.

No appointment necessary. The producer will run all aspects of these calls. Equity audition procedures will NOT be in effect, and no Equity Monitor will be provided.

Please prepare two contrasting 16-bar selections from or in the style of the shows. Bring sheet music in the correct key; accompanist is provided. Some may be asked to demonstrate dancing skills; be prepared to move as part of your audition.

Please bring a recent picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

Callbacks: 3/25, 2 PM – 7 PM

All dates are in 2012. All roles/ensemble positions are available. Note: No housing is available to out-of-area performers (i.e. those who reside more than 50 miles driving distance from the Theatre).

MY FAIR LADY Music: Frederick Loewe. Book/Lyrics: Alan Jay Lerner. Dir: Allegra Libonati. Choreo: Doug Shankman. Mus Dir TBD. 1st reh: 5/29. Rehearses Tu-F, 4:30 - 9:15 and Sa-Su, 10:30 - 7. Runs Th-Su, 6/16-7/7.

All must be good singers and dancers.

Henry Higgins:

40-60. Confident, confirmed bachelor. Professor of Phonetics and. Expert elocutionist. Baritone.

Eliza Doolittle:

20-28. Poor. Employs Henry Higgins to help her with her speech, and begins to transform herself into a regal figure, fit to consort with nobility. Soprano.

Alfred P. Doolittle:
40-70. Eliza's father. Dustman (garbage collector) who has a very unique “morality”, in that he is very happy to be a freeloader.

Colonel Pickering:
50-70. Higgins's friend. Kindly. Shares Higgins's passion for phonetics. Always considerate, and a genuine gentleman.

Freddy Eynsford-Hill:

20-28. Aristocrat, although he has no income of his own. Becomes lovesick for Eliza, and courts her with letters.

Mrs. Higgins:

60s. Higgins's socialite mother.

Professor Zoltan Karpathy:

Hungarian, 40-50. Former student of Higgins. Also a rival phonetics expert.

Mrs. Pearce:

40-70. Higgins's head of household. Helps to care for the well-being of Eliza.

Chorus:

Characters are 20-40. Servants, Cockneys, Opera-Goers, Ascot Race Track Devotees, Embassy Ball Patrons, Street Buskers.

Narrator:

Woman, 20s. Tells the story through word and song.


Jacob:

Father of twelve sons, his favorite being Joseph. Founder of a Nation.


Joseph:

His father Jacob’s favorite son. Gets into trouble with his brothers when he predicts his future will include ruling over the other eleven. Interprets Pharaoh’s dreams. Rises to a great position of power.


Potiphar:

Powerful and rich Egyptian who purchases Joseph and puts him to work in his household. Suspecting the worst, he has Joseph thrown into prison.


Mrs. Potiphar:

Beautiful and scheming. Tries to seduce Joseph.

Butler / Brother:

One of Pharaoh’s servants. In prison with Joseph, who correctly interprets his dreams. It is the Butler who tells Pharaoh about Joseph and his uncanny ability with dreams.

Baker / Brother:

Another of Pharaoh servants. Also in prison with Joseph, who correctly interprets his dreams and predicts that he will be put to death.


Pharaoh:

The most powerful man in Egypt.

Female Ensemble:

Characters are 18 – 40. Brothers’ Wives, Three Ladies, Saloon Girls, Dancing Girls, Ishmaelites.

Joseph's Brothers:

Characters are 18 – 40. Each has his unique personalities, talents and flaws. Brothers will also play Egyptians. Three brothers have songs: “Those Canaan Days”, “Benjamin’s Calypso” and “One More Angel in Heaven”.

Directions from NYC, provided by the Theatre:

Train: (1 hour NYC) Metro North to Stamford CT. Change for New Canaan. Theatre studios across street from train station 1 block (opposite side of tracks). Auto: (1 hour NYC): New England Thruway (95) north to exit 15, Rt. 7 extension, take exit 3 Merritt Parkway South to exit 37. Left off exit to center of New Canaan, left on Elm St. 1 block left at light. First right turn at light. Studios toward end of block on left. Ample parking on street or in building lot. Note: Do not go to Waveny Park location.
