Seeking
Equity actors who sing and dance for this musical set in 1952, Kobe, Japan. Actors will play Japanese female dancers and American military men.

Preparation
Actors will read from SIDES provided at audition. Also prepare 16 bars of a traditional music theatre ballad (no rock/pop/contemporary musical )

Bring sheet music; accompanist provided.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

MAJOR LLOYD (ACE) GRUVER:
early 30’s, all-American Air Force major. Baritone with tenor range.

HANA-OGI:
Late 20’s, star of the Takarazuka Theatre In male roles; tallish; Soprano who can belt.

PRIVATE JOE KELLY:
early 20’s runty kid from school of hard knocks, very street-smart. tenor and good dancer.

KATSUMI:
early twenties, small and plain, radiating warmth, innocence and inner strength. Mezzo.

EILEEN WEBSTER:
Early – mid 20’s, beautiful. Daughter of Gen Webster in love with Ace. Soprano.

CAPTAIN MIKE BAILEY:
Early thirties, happy-go-lucky. Baritone who dances.

FUMIKO:
Mid-twenties, a beautiful Takarazuka performer.

GENERAL MARK WEBSTER:
Late fifties, a handsome man who reflects the military image of a career officer. Can be Baritone or Tenor.

MIRIAM WEBSTER:
Early fifties, the perfect general’s wife, strong willed with dignity and poise, not aware of her biases .

TERUKO-SAN:
40’s- 50’s ; female former star and now head of Takarazuka theatre; as teacher and keeper of the Theatre’s code and values. Should sing and dance.

COLONEL CALHOUN CRAFORD:
Late thirties, a bigoted Southern career officer.

AP/Consul:
Male; 20’s - 30’s; Air Force police. Baritone or Tenor; should dance
