SYNOPSIS
Flying actors, pyrotechnics, sharp hooks. What could possibly go wrong? From the Tony Award®-winning creators of The Play That Goes Wrong comes this side-splitting rollercoaster of a comedy. With casting disputes, wardrobe malfunctions, and collapsing sets, the journey to Neverland veers wildly off course in this laugh-out-loud ode to live theater.
SEEKING
ROBERT GROVE: (plays NANA, the dog, PETER'S SHADOW, and STARKEY in the play) Male-identifying; Robert likes to think he is a leading man. He truly believes that he can act his way out of every predicament. Committed to the play 100%. Single-minded, enthusiastic, and bombastic.
FRANCIS BEAUMONT: (plays NARRATOR and CECCO in the play) Any gender; A robust professional who, despite best efforts, fruitlessly tries to keep the production together. High-status and dignified.
SANDRA WILKINSON: (plays WENDY DARLING in the play) Female-identifying; The ingenue of the company. Ambitious and flirtatious. Initially a little vain and self-serving - she tries to steal the scene at every turn that leads her to constantly overact. She learns to become more genuine as the play progresses. Appears onstage in undergarments.
ANNIE TWILLOIL: (plays MRS. DARLING, LISA, CURLY, and TINKER BELL in the play) Female-identifying; After an unexpected taste of the spotlight, Annie is deeply committed to each of her many roles and performs with gravitas. Often finds herself biting off more than she can chew. Appears onstage in undergarments.
DENNIS TYDE: (plays JOHN DARLING, MERMAID, and MR. SMEE in the play) Male-identifying; Wretched, low status and terrified of being in a play. The sole reason he joined the Society was to make friends, but this has back-fired somewhat. Not a good actor at all but imbues everything with a painful truth. Appears onstage in undergarments.
MAX BENNETT: (plays MICHAEL DARLING, MERMAID, and THE CROCODILE in the play) Male-identifying; Only cast because his uncle put up the money. Devoid of any theatrical talent but longs for the spotlight. Earnest, sincere and sweet; audience connection is vital for this role. Appears onstage in undergarments.
TREVOR WATSON: (STAGE MANAGER of the play) Any gender; The Society's stage manager. Doesn't like actors, certainly doesn't want to be one. He simply wants to get on with the show. Curmudgeonly. When things go really sideways, is forced to act in the play. Flying required.
JONATHAN HARRIS: (plays PETER PAN in the play) Male-identifying; Handsome hero of the play. Self-serving and self-interested. Excited and having fun, but not naïve. He cares about the play, but not to the same extent as the others. Flying required.
LUCY GROVE: (plays TOOTLES in the play) Female-identifying; Robert's niece in the company. Timid, naïve, pure-hearted and vulnerable but determined. She suffers from stage fright and is terrified by the whole experience of performing, however finds her voice and confidence at the end. Performs part of the show on crutches.
GILL: (STAGEHAND of the play) Any gender; Cornley stagehand and later split tracks as a paramedic
