Fired from his skiffle band, Francis Henshall becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe, a small-time East End hood. But Roscoe is really his sister Rachel posing as her own dead brother, who’s been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers. Holed up at the Cricketers’ Arms, the permanently ravenous Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a second job with one Stanley Stubbers, who is hiding from the police and waiting to be reunited with Rachel. To prevent discovery, Francis must keep his two guvnors apart. Simple.

Note from Equity: Equity Principal Auditions were held for non-musical roles in January. The following musical roles (and two additional musical understudy positions) are available:
CDs’ casting note: “All four band members must be comfortable on stage and be able to look like an early beat group – sharp suits, big quiffs. Cute and cheeky. Communication/flirting with audience a must!”
Lead Singer of The Craze:
Man, early 20s – early 30s. Charismatic front man. Excellent singer/performer/musician/MD. Singing range: High baritone, low A to top Bb, with higher falsetto notes. Singing style: Lonnie Donegan to John Lennon. Skiffle meets Beatles meets variety. Instruments: Rhythm acoustic guitar, rhythm electric guitar, keyboards, accordion, harmonicas (chromatic and diatonic), claves. Singing, guitar and keyboards are the important skills. Accordion and harmonica can be taught.
Lead Guitar / Backup Vocals / Banjo:
Man, early 20s - early 30s. Excellent guitarist with good country/blues licks, as well early Beatles/Kinks rock and a little light jazz comping. Tenor singing voice – range up to top A, with higher falsetto notes. Banjo is only one song, and can be learned by a good guitarist.
Upright Bass / Electric Bass / Backup Vocals:
Man, early 20s - early 30s. Excellent upright and electric bass player, comfortable with skiffle and jazz as well as early Beatles/Kinks rock. Singing range: Baritone up to E.
Drums / Washboard / Spoons:
Man, early 20s - early 30s. Excellent and versatile player, comfortable with early 60s rock/pop as well as light jazz and skiffle washboard. Must be happy working to click.
