lisa@northernskytheater.com. Please indicate your preferred audition time and any times you are NOT available. You will be assigned a time based on schedule. Deadline for requesting an appointment is 5pm CT on October 19, 2025. If you are unable to attend, you may submit a video audition. See breakdown for instructions.

CONTRACT

LOA
$605 weekly minimum (Ref. to LORT) - 2025 rates for 6 or less performances per week - Fall Season
$817 weekly minimum (Ref. to LORT) - 2025 rates for 7 or 8 performances per week - Summer Season
Workshops:
$317 weekly minimum - Rehearsal - 2025 rate - Winter Season

SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Northern Sky Theater's 2026 Season (See breakdown).
Actors will also be considered for new works Readings and Workshops.
Performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, ages, as well as performers with disabilities, are encouraged to audition.
All roles will be understudied.

PREPARATION

Please prepare two short contrasting monologues and two short contrasting songs. An accompanist will be provided. You are also welcome to accompany yourself on any instrument of your choice. Sharing your instrumental skills is encouraged.

NOTE: It is common at Northern Sky for actors to play instruments onstage and to join the pit band when not onstage.

  • WILSON - A Wilson’s Warbler; folksy, kind, empathetic

  • THE KW - Kirtland’s Warbler: small, black wings, yellow belly; a survivor

HUMANS:

  • JAY - A lifelong, accomplished birder; kindly; going with Veery
  • VEERY - Owner of Veery’s Bird Nest Café; 50s; sociable, big-hearted
  • RHONDA - Longtime birder; married to Lynette; soft but strong
  • LYNETTE - Longtime birder; clever, quick-witted, vulnerable
  • COOPER - Power birder; 20s-30s; super competitive, a loner
  • PHOEBE - Accomplished birder; 20s-30s; smart and sensitive
  • GAGE - DNR Wildlife Warden; 20s-30s; conscientious and kind

SOMETHING IN THE WATER

SEEKING:

  • NORMAN BIDWELL: Second generation owner of the Grand Waukesha Springs Resort. Inherited the business from his father and has sunk every penny he has into keeping his father’s dream and business alive.
  • KIT HAGGARD: Eager, young and optimistic, Norman Bidwell’s niece. After spending the summers of her youth as a guest at the Grand, she now works for her Uncle. She dreams of one day owning the Grand and will do anything to keep it open.
  • WALTER W WALTERS, III: Arrogant, entitled bachelor and heir to his family fortune. His freewheeling lifestyle has gotten him into a heap of trouble, and he finds himself hiding out at the Grand Waukesha Springs Resort.
  • PENELOPY PENNYFARTHING: Grand in opinion and stature, she inherited a huge fortune and currently spends her days traveling the world in search of inspiration to fuel her secret pastime.
  • FANNY BARTLETT: Wildly overdramatic stage star. Jilted ex-fiancé of Walter Walters, and longtime girlfriend of gangster Big Joe Coletti.
  • “BIG JOE” COLETTI: Infamous short-tempered Chicago gangster. Despite his oversized reputation, he is not physically imposing. Recently released from prison, he will do anything to win back Fanny.
