Performers of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexualities, abilities and ages are encouraged to audition.

Please prepare two brief contrasting monologues. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

BREAKDOWN

NEW JEWISH THEATRE'S 2024 SEASON PLAYS

ALL MY SONS:

Joe Keller: CAST 50s-60s (He/Him), Patriarch of the Keller family and businessman who manufactured faulty airplane parts for use in World War II planes. Denies his knowledge that the parts were faulty and lets his partner and former neighbor Steve Deever take the blame.

Kate Keller: 40s-50s (She/Her) Wife of Joe, and mother of Chris and his brother Larry who has been “missing in action” for three years. Unlike the rest of her family, she refuses to believe that Larry is dead. “A woman of uncontrolled inspirations and an overwhelming capacity for love.”

Chris Keller: CAST late 20s/early 30s (He/Him) Joe and Kate’s son, Larry’s brother. Changed by the war, morally upright, empathetic, and compassionate.

Ann Deever: CAST mid to late 20s (She/Her) Steve Deever’s daughter, Larry’s former girlfriend, Chris’s current fiancé. Compassionate, loving, realistic.

George Deever: CAST early 30s (He/Him) Ann’s brother, ashamed of his father. Served in the war and works as an attorney in NYC.

Dr. Jim Bayliss: CAST late 30s/early 40s (He/Him) The Kellers neighbor and a successful Doctor.

Sue Bayliss: CAST late 30s/early 40s (She/Her) Wife of Jim, speaks her mind and is always interested in the neighborhood gossip.

Frank Lubey: CAST late 20s/early 30s Another neighbor to the Keller’s, described as “A pleasant, opinionated man, uncertain of himself, with a tendency toward peevishness when crossed, but always wanting it pleasant and neighborly.”

Lydia Lubey: CAST mid to late 20s (She/Her) Wife of Frank Lubey and mother of three. Happy and well adjusted.

Bert: (He/him) an eight-year-old neighborhood boy who plays games with Joe. Joe made Bert a deputy and told him the Keller house has a prison in the basement.

Ariel - The Younger Daughter. Sometimes on her own planet. Sometimes the most present of anyone. Lives at home. An Almost Yoga Teacher. Jewish. White. Late 20s.

Ester - Linda’s Assistant. Enthusiastic. Organized. A Graduate Student in Psychology. Christian. African-American. Late’s 20s.

Nan - Saul’s older sister and Linda’s best friend from college. A Civil Rights Lawyer. Practical. Principled. Hardened. A New Yorker. Jewish. White. 60s.

Beverly - Their Former Neighbor. Sincere. Chatty. Christian. White. 60s.

Mark Rothko: He/Him, 50+, Abstract expressionist painter, demanding, intense workaholic.

Ken: He/Him Early to late 20s, Rothko's new assistant. Eager, ambitious and nervous, wants to impress.

TRAYF:

Zalmy: He/Him, 19, Chasidic Jew from Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Intelligent, curious, hungry for life.

Schmuel: He/Him, 19, Chasidic Jew from Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Loyal, earnest, hungry for love.

Johnathan: He/Him, late 20s. Gentile living in Manhattan. Charismatic, impulsive, hungry for purpose.
