Rehearsal stipend: $500; $27 per performance; pension fund payment.
The 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival will run from 9/26-10/16, at various venues in NYC.
Most shows will have six perfs each (perf dates for each show TBA).

Tells the true story of “Ziegfeld Follies” girl Olive Thomas, her rise to fame, and the events that led to her mysterious death at age 25.
Note: Music is an homage to the Golden Age of Broadway, with a slight contemporary edge (no pop/rock please).
Three Male Singer/Dancers:
Play various characters including Frank (ideally in his 30s; the dance captain) and Irving (mid 20s, the pianist; no piano necessary). The male ensemble will serve as the classic American chorus of the “Follies”. Tap is a must.

Follows a family of musicians during the rise and fall of the Central Avenue jazz scene in 1940s Los Angeles. Loosely based on the biblical story of Cain and Abel.
All Ensemble members will play various characters of the Central Avenue community. Ensemble must sing in the jazz style and should be strong jazz dancers. Swing/lindy-hop dance skills are a plus.

Caucasian woman, 20s. Must sing in the jazz style. Must dance.

Plays Caucasian characters, 20s, including Producer, Musician, Police Officer. Tenor to G.

Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy's romance comes to life with fresh eyes as Jane Austen revisits her unpublished manuscript, “First Impressions”. As Austen transforms their story into what will ultimately become her masterpiece, both the author and her characters struggle to learn the joy of second chances. Supported by a classical score with modern influences.
All must sing well, and should be strong movers. Standard British dialect required.
Female Ensemble 1:
Strong dance skills. Mezzo soprano. Plays a variety of characters (30s - mid 40s), including Cassandra Austen (Jane’s sister) and Mrs. Reynolds (Darcy’s housekeeper).
Female Ensemble 2:
Strong dance skills. Soprano or alto. Plays a variety of characters (30-40), including Mrs. Reynolds (Elizabeth’s elegant, amiable aunt) and Hill (Jane’s housemaid).
Male Ensemble 1:
Tenor. Plays a variety of characters (late 20s), including Mr. Collins (stout, conceited clergyman) and Dream Soldier.
Male Ensemble 2:
Baritenor. Plays a variety of characters (late 20s), including George Wickham (extremely attractive and sexy soldier).
Male Ensemble 3:
Tenor or baritone. Plays a variety of characters (40-50), including Mr. Gardiner (Mrs. Bennet’s friendly brother, Elizabeth’s uncle).
Male Ensemble 4:
Strong dance skills. Tenor or bass. Plays a variety of characters (30-40).
Male Ensemble 5 and Male Ensemble 6:
Strong dance skills. Tenor or baritone. Play a variety of characters (late 20s).

Michael Cassara Casting is the resident casting office for the 2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival, and will be coordinating days of Equity Principal Auditions for multiple shows on July 12, 14 and 26.
