LOA $769.00/week

SEEKING

Equity actor/singers and dancers for various roles and chorus.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a brief musical theater song from the show or in the style of the show fitting the role you are most interested in. Bring sheet music, in the correct key, as an accompanist will be provided. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together and your Equity card.

No non Equity performers will be seen at these EPAs. NEWSIES auditions for non Equity actors as well as Equity actors will be held in Raleigh on Sunday, April 8th. Details will be posted soon under the “Auditions” tab at https://nctheatre.com/page/working-nct.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

BREAKDOWN

JACK KELLY:
Leader of the newsies; streetwise, tough, honest and passionate. A charismatic and youthful leading man, dynamic actor with a strong pop-tenor voice, good mover. Age in appearance: Late teen/young adult.

KATHERINE PLUMBER:
Strong-willed, smart, assertive daughter of Joseph Pulitzer who is beginning to test her fledgling confidence and strength. Mezzo-soprano with strong belt, good mover/dancer. Age in appearance: Late teen/young adult.

CRUTCHIE:
Slight, sickly newsie, uses a crutch. A big-hearted, mischievous charmer with tenor voice. Age in appearance: Late teen/young adult.

DAVY:
Nice, Jewish boy raised in a home unlike the other newsies. Book-smart, a thinker, tenor with great contemporary voice, dancer, tap a plus. Age in appearance: Late teen/young adult.

JOSEPH PULITZER:
(This role is cast. We are not seeking any actors at this time. Actors choosing to audition will be seen as understudies/replacements in the event of an emergency.) Boisterous, know-it-all, no nonsense publisher of The World. Strong baritone, strong actor, non dancer. Age in appearance: Mature adult.

NUN/MEDDA LARKIN:
(This role is cast. We are not seeking any actors at this time. Actors choosing to audition will be seen as understudies/replacements in the event of an emergency.) Vaudeville star, strong business woman with a big voice and great comic delivery. Female character actor with mezzo-sporano belt.

CHORUS:
Male and female singers for the ensemble and chorus specialty parts.
