LOST IN YONKERS

1st reh: 5/31/11. Runs 6/17 – 6/26/11

Seeking:

Grandma Kurnitz: Late 60s to Early 70s, German accent. Sees herself as a family rock of responsibility and her children as examples of arrested development. Uses her harsh and stony personality to keep her children (Bella, Eddie, Louie, and Gert)—and grandsons—in line.

Eddie: Son, 40ish, widower and loving father of Arthur (13) and Jay (16). Returns to the troubled Kurnitz family dynamic out of need and desperation, but resolute in seeking the best outcome for his sons.

Bella: Mid 30s, very loving but emotionally immature. Seemingly a bit dense in certain ways, her maternal instincts provide an unusual maturity in other ways.

Louie: Mid 30s. Independent, untouchable son. A shady operator among more dangerous gangsters he has a good heart where family is concerned and empathy for his siblings, particularly Bella.

Gert: Late 30s to mid 40s. Nervous and neurotic to the point that it affects her ability to breathe normally around her mother.

THE 39 STEPS

1st reh: 6/21/11. Runs: 7/8 – 7/17/11

Seeking:

Richard Hannay: British. About 40. Seeking an actor comfortable with the style and able to convey the quality of a 1930’s leading man. The sort that wore the pencil moustache with charm, attractive, but not rakish, pleasantly handsome.

Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret: seeking actress capable of presenting three versions of Hitchcock leading lady. Must have British and Scottish dialect.

Clown 1 and Clown 2: Seeking two actors who will play many roles at breakneck speed, operating as a team and with a flair both for dialect and for rapidly paced dialogue. Exceptional comic timing and improvisational ability.
