BREAKDOWN
With a reduced cast size, this ensemble of actors will all play prisoners who step in and out of many different characters. Below is a list of the character tracks, although some of the assignments may shift. All of the actors must be terrific singers and strong character actors. They should all be very good movers (and dancers where specified.) Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to submit.
Seeking:
PRISONER/CERVANTES-This male prisoner will portray Cervantes/Don Quixote (an actor, playwright and would-be knight. A romantic, who some think insane; has a vision of a nobler world.)
PRISONER/ALDONZA- This female prisoner will portray Aldonza (a servant and prostitute at the inn. Defensive and rough on the exterior, but has a gentle heart inside and yearns to believe in the world that Don Quixote describes.)
PRISONER/SANCHO- This male prisoner will portray Sancho (devoted manservant to Don Quixote) and others.
PRISONER/CAPTAIN/JOSE- This male prisoner will portray Captain, Jose and others
PRISONER/ANSELMO/GOVERNOR/INNKEEPER - This male prisoner will play Anselmo, the Governor (the leader of this inmate society), the Innkeeper and others.
PRISONER/DUKE/CARRASCO - This male prisoner will play the Duke (sidekick to the Governor), Carrasco (Antonia’s fiancée) and others.
PRISONER/ANTONIA- This female prisoner will portray Antonia (Quixote's niece) and others.
PRISONER/MARIA/HOUSEKEEPER/DANCER - This female prisoner will portray Maria, the Housekeeper and others. Excellent dancer.
PRISONER/PADRE/JUAN-This male prisoner will portray Padre, Juan and others.
PRISONER/BARBER/PACO/HORSE 2-This male prisoner will portray the Barber, Paco, Horse and others.
PRISONER/ PEDRO/HORSE 1-This male prisoner will portray Pedro (a mean and vicious man, leading an attack on Aldonza) and Horse.
PRISONER/TENORIO/DANCER - This male prisoner will portray Tenorio and others. Excellent dancer.
