SYNOPSIS: Teenaged and wayward, a little confused and a little punk rock, Jesus of Nazareth journeys to the east with his friend Abigail of Galilee on the back of a camel. They cross the Hindu Kush to the Indo-Mathura, a region of spiritual innovation, new age music and really good weed. A contemporary parable that looks at the world’s most famous rebel before he found his cause.

ABIGAIL
(18, Female, Semitic) - Brash, bold and full of feeling. Deeply in love with Jesus and aggressive about helping him find himself. Cusses like a sailor and draws from a well of deep insecurity that she masks with power, rage, and self-deprecation.
GOPAL
(18, Male, Indian) - An unrepentant stoner. Unfailingly sincere and open-hearted. Absent-minded but capable of unusual wisdom. Plays drums.
SUSHIL
(18, Male, Indian) - Total punk rock anarchist who doesn't give a fuck about anything. Loud, obnoxious, and fun. Plays guitar, sort of.
JESUS
CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. (18, Male, Semitic) - A rebel who hasn't figured out his cause. Full of tortured teen angst, he'd love to be a fun-loving, punk rock anarchist, but can only partly cover his serious, sincere and introspective soul. Hides from himself and carries heavy secrets. During the course of the play, he grows from being a boy into a man, from someone who pushes away commitment/expectation/love for self-interests into someone who starts to listen to the world.
MAHARI
CAST. Auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. (15, Female, Indian) - Wide-eyed innocent with endless patience and absolute love. Is haunted by visions and is certain of her important destiny. Doubles as Mary, 33, who is somewhere between being the actual Virgin Mary and a sort of spiritual manifestation of her.
