The producer will run all aspects of this call. Equity audition procedures will NOT be in effect, and no Equity Monitor will be provided.
Please prepare a short monologue. Also, please prepare 16 bars of ballad and up-tempo (pop/contemporary, not legit musical theatre). Bring sheet music in the correct key. Prepare to cold-read.
Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back. NO electronic submissions, please.

Original musical about Alice Austen, a pioneering American photographer and iconic feminist hero who lived on Staten Island and whose images tell the story of NYC America in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Austen's commitment to live and die by the consequences of her free will and actions in the early 20th Century defined her life and work.
Seeking:
Note: Seeking pop/contemporary voices, not legit musical theatre.
Alice Austen:
Late 50s/60s. Crippled by arthritis, old and poor now. From an aristocratic family. Photographer. Strong-willed, sharp, but has a generous nature. Lived life by her own rules. Strong singer, mezzo soprano with belt. LEAD.
Alice’s Mother / Nightclub Singer / Ensemble:
30-40s. Mother: Left by her husband. Raising Alice with help from family. Dies young. Singer: Sings in a women's teahouse. Actress plays other parts. Mezzo/soprano or Alto. Bluesy/sultry qualities.
Matron / Ensemble:
30-40s. Matron at Poor Farm convalescent hospital. Cranky, cold, irritated. Actress plays other parts.
Fredrick Talbot / Ensemble:
30-50. Friend of Alice's. From a wealthy family, aristocratic. Kind. Businessman. In love with Alfred. Actor plays other parts. Tenor/baritone. Must be able to move well.
Alfred Patterson / Others:
30-50. Friend of Alice's. Also from an aristocratic family. Sensitive nature, inner struggles. Actor plays other parts. Strong singer with wide range, tenor or baritenor.
Oliver Jensen / Others:
30-40s. Editor at “Life Magazine”. Instrumental in getting Alice out of Poor Farm and seeing to it that she is recognized by the world for her photos. Actor plays other parts. Baritone or bass.
Henry Winthrop:
Early 50s. Alice’s second cousin. Wealthy businessman. Helps Alice financially. Bearer of bad news. Strong baritenor, able to hit low D, and comfortable with falsetto.
