Lunch from 12:30 – 1:30. Auditions are in the rehearsal hall.

Please prepare EITHER a) two brief contrasting monologues (approx. one minute each) OR b) 32 bars of a song and a brief (approx. 1-minute) monologue. If singing, bring legible sheet music in the correct key; accompanist provided.

Please bring a picture & resume, stapled back-to-back.

CABARET by Kander and Ebb. Dir: Cathey Sawyer. Choreo: Donald Laney. 1st reh: 4/23. Runs 5/18-6/2.


Emcee:

Man, age non-specific. Host at the Kit Kat Klub. Speaks with a German accent. Actor must be agile and must dance. Tenor.


Clifford Bradshaw:

Late 20s - mid 30s, American. Novelist. Tenor.


Fraulein Schneider:

50+. Landlady who rents rooms in her large flat. German accent. Alto. Light dance.


Herr Schultz:

50+. One of Fraulein Schneider’s roomers. Proprietor of a fruit shop. German accent. Tenor. Actor should be comfortable with stage movement and light dance.


Fraulein Kost:

30s-40s. Another of Frl. Schneider’s roomers. Earns money by offering favors to sailors. German accent. Alto/mezzo.


Sally Bowles:

British, 20s-30s. Cabaret singer at the Kit Kat Klub. Soprano – able to belt a song. British accent. Must dance.


Ernst Ludwig:

German man, age non-specific. Friendly and likable. Baritone. Actor should be comfortable with stage movement and light dance.


Ensemble (M/F). Characters include


Max / Ensemble Dancer / Klub Patron:

Sally’s jealous Klub acquaintance. Non?speaking.


Customs Officer / Maitre D’:

Age non-specific. German accent.


Assistant Customs Officer / Patron / Party Guest:

Non-speaking.


Kit Kat Klub Boys/Girls:

Ensemble singers – various vocal ranges – must be able to dance. Will also be part of various scenes as performers and as club patrons. Some will be German sailors who frequent Fraulein Kost’s services. Actors should be comfortable with portraying free in gender depictions.



FLOYD COLLINS by Landau and Guettel: Dir. Susanna Berryman. 1st reh: 5/21. Runs 6/14-6/30.


Theatre’s casting note: “Everyone should be able to speak with Kentucky dialect.”


Floyd Collins: 20s. A caver. Tenor.

Bee Doyle: 40s-60s. Owner of the farm on which Floyd becomes trapped.

Ed Bishop: 30s-50s. Local caver.

Jewell Estes: Local teenage boy.

Lee Collins: 50s-60s. Floyd's father.

Miss Jane: 50s-60s. Floyd's stepmother.

Nellie Collins: Late teens. Floyd's younger sister. Soprano/belt.

Homer Collins: Teenager. Floyd's younger brother.

Skeets Miller: 30+. Reporter for the “Louisville Courier-Journal”.

H. T. Carmichael: 40+. Engineer.

Cliff Roney: 20s. Young filmmaker.

Dr. Hazlett: 40+. Doctor from Chicago.

Frederick Jordan: 50+. Local farmer.

Sandy: Man, late 30s/40ish. Tabloid journalist.

Lenny: African American, 30s. Reluctant photographer.

Lester: 30s. Tabloid publisher.

Duane Early: Late 30s. Southern. Short. Duck hunter.

Duwell Early: Duane's brother. Bigger. Southern. Duck hunter.

Voice / Bank Loan Officer: Male characters, 40+.

The Gator Man: 20+. Half man, half alligator.

Kansas: Must look 17. Teenage shop girl.

Woman: Late 20s. Attractive

THE FRUGAL REPAST:


Man: Late 20s/early 30s. A circus tightrope walker. Lithe. Role requires facility with pathos and comedy.


Woman: Late 20s/early 30s. Also a tightrope walker. Rather emaciated looking.


Boy: Actor should be able to play under age 10. Role could be played by a young girl with short hair. Gymnastics skills needed.


Ambroise Vollard: 50s/60s. The famous dealer who promoted Picasso’s career.


Guillaume Apollinaire: 30s-40s. Facility with language needed.


Gertrude Stein: 40s. Stout; imposing presence.


Alice B. Toklas: 40s. Tall, slender. A bit mouse-like in demeanor.


Pablo Picasso: 20s. Great passion, humorously expressed.


Picasso’s Companions: All are played by one actress. Character ages: 20s. Fetching.

Millie: 20s. The bride-to-be. Mezzo/alto.

Sally: 20s. Millie’s sassy friend. Mezzo.

Florence: 20s. Millie and Sally’s shy friend. Alto/bass.

Dee Dee: 20s. Flo's cousin. Mezzo.



THE CRUCIBLE by Arthur Miller. Dir: John Briggs. 1st reh: 9/3. Runs 9/28-10/20.


John Proctor: 30s-40s. Honest farmer forced to defend his wife and himself against witchcraft charges.

Elizabeth Proctor: 20s-30s. John Proctor’s loyal and upright wife.

Rev. Samuel Parris: 40-50. Salem's current minister.

Betty Parris: 10-15. Daughter of Rev. Parris.

Abigail Williams: Late teens. Servant girl fired by Mrs. Proctor for seducing her husband.

Tituba: 40+. Female servant of Rev. Parris.

Thomas & Ann Putnam: 40+. Wealthy husband and wife who use the witchcraft frenzy to implicate rivals.

Rev. John Hale: 40+. Expert in detecting spirits, well educated, fair-minded.

Rebecca Nurse: 60+. Charitable Salem resident accused of witchcraft.

Mary Warren: Late teens. Servant of the Proctors. Changes sides during the trial.

Deputy Governor John Danforth: 60+. Presiding judge who conducts the trial.

John Hathorne: 40+. Associate judge.

Giles Corey: 70+. Innocent citizen accused of witchcraft

Mercy Lewis: Late teens. Servant of the Proctors who took part in the conjuring rite in the forest.

Susanna Walcott: Late teens. Teenager who took part in the rite in the forest.

Sarah Good: 60+. Poor, homeless woman accused of witchcraft.

Francis Nurse: 70-85. Townsperson

Ezekiel Cheever: 30-60. Townsperson.
