3:30 PM – 11 PM both days. Teaneck NJ
Dinner break from 7 - 7:30.
No appointment necessary. The producer will run all aspects of these calls. Equity audition procedures will NOT be in effect, and no Equity Monitor will be provided.
Please prepare a brief (preferably 2-minute) monologue.
Please bring a picture & resume, stapled together.

A Body of Water by Lee Blessing. Dir: Michael Bias. 1st reh: 10/4/10. Runs 10/28-11/14.
Avis: Woman, 45–55.
Moss: Man, 45–55.
Wren: Woman, 20s.
... And Jesus Moonwalks The Mississippi by Marcus Gardley. Dir: Thom Molyneaux. 1st reh: 1/17/11. Runs 2/10 – 2/27.
The Quilter:
Miss Ssippi:
Black woman. Beautifully large. Gives new meaning to the word “elegance”, although she appears over-worked and always “on the run”.
The Threads:
Free Girl:
Age 7; half black, half white. Her face is caked in white powder, and her hair is always tied up. Wears a tea dress.
Blanche Verse:
Age 7, white. “Blanchie” wears short pants and an old army vest, which hangs loosely on her.
Cadence Marie Verse:
White; old enough to be embarrassed by her age. Blanche’s mother. Always dolled up: blush on the cheeks, rouge on the lips and gin on the tongue.
Jean Verse:
White. Thin. A romantic. He wears a white silk shirt, Confederate slacks and a dark fedora. His voice is like the wind; it caters to the trees.
Demeter:
Black woman; old enough to die wise. Her hair is as silver as trout, and her skin just as smooth. Built like a good man, one who has been fighting all her life. She even walks like one. Women notice her. Men pretend not to. Wears a tattered petticoat, ripped slacks and a head scarf. Perhaps a man should play her. Damascus is her former being.
Yankee Pot Roast:
White. Juicy, with lots of fat hanging off him. Red all over – a bundle of joy and naiveté.
Jesus:
Black. A warm beauty. He wears sandals and a robe. Actor also plays plays The Great Tree.
Brer Bit:
The “house Negro”.

Mr. Smith: Late 20s.
Mrs. Smith: Early 20s.
Mr. Martin: Mid 20s.
Mrs. Martin: Mid 20s.
Mary, The Maid: Mid 20s.
