• P.C. Gatewood: 50s-60s, Emma's abusive husband
• Hugh Caldwell: 50s-60s, Emma's father, a one-legged drunk
• Dr. Monroe: 40s, a local doctor
• Burris Hall: 30s, a Park Ranger
• Nelson Gatewood: 30s, Emma's son
• Slade: 40s, suspicious farmer, lives near A.T.
• Frank Callahan: 30s-40s, a reporter
