SEEKING

Equity actor/singers for various roles in the upcoming 18-19 Season. See breakdown.


PREPARATION

Please prepare two brief songs (16 to 32 bar cuts each). One song should be Sondheim and the second should be from a rock musical. Not to exceed 2 minutes total. Bring sheet music with you, an accompanist will be provided.

DISASTER

SISTER MARY:
Awkward, judgmental nun with a gambling addiction. This character is female, age 30s-50s. Range: top high B; has to sustain a high Ab.

SHIRLEY:
Perhaps heavyset, lovable and jolly Jewish woman. Maury's wife. Tap dances in Act Two. Great comedic actress, This character is female, age 50s-65s. Range: belt to a B4.

JACKIE:
An aging but still sexy showgirl and now lounge singer. Dumb but honest. Goldie Hawn-esq. This character is female, age 32s-42s. Range: belt to D5.

MRS. LOVETT:
An entrepreneurial and amoral meat pie show owner. She falls in love with Todd and turns his desire for revenge into a profitable business venture. The character is female, age 40-55. Range: E5-G3.

JUDGE TURPIN:
A lecherous public official who portrays himself as a sanctimonious authoritarian. He takes advantage of his position in the city and is responsible for imprisoning Todd. This character is male, age 35s-60s. Range: E2-Gb4. Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to attend.

JESUS:
As much a pop culture idol as a religious leader, driven, charismatic, attractive, sincere, has a greater understanding of the dangers and matters at hand than any of his followers. This character is male, age 20s-40s. Range: rock tenor A2-G5. Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to attend.

JUDAS:
Jesus’ strategic confidante, dedicated, passionate, conflicted, unshakably practical, torn between an aggressive sense of self-preservation and the ideals of Jesus’ religious movement. This character is male, age 20s-40s. Range: rock tenor D3 - D5. Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to attend.

PONTIUS PILATE:
Roman Governor, calculated, thoughtful, adept at handling pressure, not quick to use the gravity of his power. This character is male. Range: rock baritenor A2-B4. Actors of all ethnicities encouraged to attend.
