Please include in your email which days and times you are available, as well as an indication as to whether or not you belong to Actors’ Equity Association. PREPARATION
The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. Please bring a resume and
headshot.
Auditionees interested in reading the play in advance may do so at the Lexington
Downtown Public Library, 140 East Main Street, where the script is kept on reserve.

ABOUT THE THEATRE
AthensWest Theatre Company, now in its fifth season, operates on an SPT3 contract with Actors’ Equity Association. Roles are available for both Equity and non-Equity performers, and non-Equity performers have the opportunity to earn EMC points through this production. All actors will be paid. EPA Procedures are in effect for audition.
An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN Note: actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
Eugene, 14-21, male. Smart, precocious, and at the very beginning of an aggressive puberty.
Blanche, 40-50, female. Eugene’s aunt. Pretty, insecure, and trying to build her own confidence.
Kate, 40-50, female. Eugene’s mother and Blanche’s sister. A no-nonsense and tough, but loving, mother.
Laurie, 13-17, female. Eugene’s cousin. Sickly, but clever.
Nora, 16-18, female. Eugene’s beautiful cousin. Full of dreams.
Stanley, 18-25, male. Eugene’s confident older brother.
Jack, 40-55, male. Eugene’s weary and hardworking father.
