BREAKDOWN

As We Babble On explores the pursuit of success, its costs, and conquering the Swedish BIGBOX. Benji, a first-generation Asian American, struggles in New York City to find his voice as his writing career stalls. As the professional paths of his best friend Sheila and his half sister Laura begin to blossom, he begins to unravel. As We Babble On explores what lengths we are willing to go to realize our dreams, whether morality is tied to upward mobility, and whether boxed wine and soda is an appropriate sangria recipe after the age of 24.

Benji- 28, Gaysian graphic novelist now moonlighting as a barista who feels that the 'system' is against him. Endearing bordering on caustic, potentially charming, awkward but deeply neurotic. Benji’s insecurities root from a real place of loss which blinds and sometimes paralyzes him to the privileges he does possess

Laura- 27, Mixed Race Asian/Caucasian, Hapa Half-sister to Benji and bestie to Sheila. A talented, undiscovered long-form journalist critical of systems but still a scrappy pragmatist. Laura believes in taking opportunity at face value regardless of any morally gray implications. She is done with Benji's wishy-washy BS.

Sheila- 29, African American, a freelance artist who moonlights as a cam girl (no nudity required). Benji’s roommate, and confidant. She makes her own rules. Undeterred by adversity, she is a fiercely loyal friend, but has moved past her own angst, and is always future sighted.

Vish- 30- South Asian, App Developer. Benji’s Ex, Extremely beautiful and smart, confident. Secure in himself enough to see the best in everyone around him, and challenges those he cares about to live past their flaws.

Orson- 33- Caucasian, the heir to the Archer eInk Empire. An optimistic and charismatic person who doesn’t always know where his silver spoon and his privilege have limited him. Orson has begun to question if his family’s wealth has shielded him from ever truly experiencing failure and the perceived virtues that comes with it.
