Rehearsals begin on/around October 19, 2026. All roles will be understudied, with performances running through the end of February 2027.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a short monologue from a mid 20th Century drama, not to exceed 2 minutes in length. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

EPA Procedures are in effect for this audition. An Equity Monitor will be provided.

Breakdown

A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

SEEKING:

Eddie Carbone (CAST): He/him, 40s – A Longshoreman. Eddie lives with his wife, Beatrice, and orphaned niece, Catherine in Red Hook Brooklyn. Eddie struggles to adapt to the quickly changing world around him. He harbors a secret love for his niece Catherine which leads to his undoing.

Beatrice (CAST): She/her, 40s – Eddie’s wife and Catherine’s aunt. She has raised Catherine from the time she was very young. She is protective of Catherine but also wants her to experience life and follow her heart.

Catherine: She/her, 18+ to play late teens – The niece of Eddie and Beatrice. Catherine is just beginning to come into her womanhood. She seeks approval from her uncle and struggles when Eddie does not accept her budding romance with Rodolpho.

Marco: He/him, 30s-50s – Beatrice’s cousin from Sicily. Marco comes to the US without legal authorization. He has come to New York to work and make money to send back to his wife and children. Marco is a hard-working, honorable man.

Rodolpho: He/him, 18+ to play 20s – Beatrice’s cousin from Sicily. Rodolpho comes to the US without legal authorization. He prefers singing jazz to working on the ships. Rodolpho wants to pursue his own version of the American dream. His presence upsets the balance in the Carbone home.

Alfieri: He/him, 50s-60s – An Italian-American lawyer, Alfieri narrates the story and places the events in their greater context. He is thoughtful and compassionate.

Mike: He/him, 30s-50s – A Longshoreman and friend of Eddie's.

Louis: He/him, 30s-50s – A Longshoreman and friend of Eddie's.

Tony: He/him, 30s-50s – A friend of the Carbones. He brings Rodolpho and Marco to the Carbone’s home.

First Immigration Officer: He/him, 20s-50s – One of two officers from the Immigration Bureau who comes to look for Marco and Rodolpho at Eddie's request.

Second Immigration Officer: He/him, 20s-50s – One of two officers from the Immigration Bureau who comes to look for Marco and Rodolpho at Eddie's request.
