BREAKDOWN
A CHRISTMAS CAROL
NOTE: All roles require an English accent. All roles (with the exception of Scrooge) will be asked to sing Christmas carols a cappella.
NOTE: Additionally, we are looking for a performer who can play the Ukulele or Mandolin. The Ukulele or Mandolin can be placed on a variety of tracks and will be set during the audition process based on who is being seen.
SEEKING:
TINY TIM – (Male or Female, 8-12) A seer who carries a disability. NOTE: Performers with mobility and physical disabilities are encouraged to audition. No prior experience is required.
THE FOLLOWING ROLES ARE CAST:
TBA – SCROOGE – CAST (Male, late 40s-mid 50s) Grouchy old miser with a cold-hearted approach to life. His kindness and goodwill are restored after a visit from some wise ghosts.
TBA – FATHER/MARLEY – CAST (Male, 35-55) Marley – Scrooge’s former business partner. A bitter man who bitterly regrets his bitterness. Father - Scrooge and Little Fan’s Father. Alcoholic. Commanding, pathetic, pathetically commanding.
TBA – GHOST PAST – CAST (Female, 55-75) Sinewy and clever, the first of the ghosts. Takes Scrooge back to his childhood and visits Little Fan, Belle, and Fezziwig through the years. Pensive and cunning but with a sweet Grandma-like appearance.
TBA – GHOST PRESENT – CAST (Female, 35-45) A giant. With giant ways. She sees the present clearly, mainly because she's so tall. She thinks he's funnier than he is. She enjoys life, which is a wonderful skill in a ghost.
TBA – FEZZIWIG – CAST (Male, 40-60) The most joyous undertaker you'll ever meet. Father of Belle. Warm, welcoming man - his house is full of Christmas cheer. Offers the young Scrooge work with the intention of making him an associate and business partner. Scrooge rejects this in his mission to provide more for Belle.
TBA – JESS – CAST (Female, 18-30) City type. Young, playful and competitive. A friend of Scrooge's nephew, Jess is quick witted and a keen game player.
TBA – NICHOLAS – CAST (Male, 30-40) A good and kind husband to Belle. Same age as Belle.
TBA – FERDY/GEORGE/CELLO – CAST (Male, 18-30) City type. Young, playful character. Must be able to play the cello.
