The Repertory Theater of Iowa will present Moliére's TARTUFFE, or THE IMPOSTER translated by Christopher Hampton April 13th through the 29th at the Kirkwood Theater, home of the Des Moines Social Club, 400 Walnut Street in downtown Des Moines.

Moliére's most famous theatrical comedy is reinvigorated with this contemporary adaptation as RTI serves up its own take on this timeless classic. Originally written in 1664, this modern translation of Moliére's depiction of hypocrisy in action was conceived by Hampton for the Royal Shakespeare Company. An ASL-Interpreted performance of the piece will be presented on Saturday evening, April 14th for the hearing-impaired.

TARTUFFE, or THE IMPOSTER is directed by Iowa State University professor Matt Foss, who recently took home a National Kennedy Center American College Theatre Award for Outstanding Director of a Play for his adaptation of Luigi Pirandello's Six Characters. Theatrical Design is by RTI's resident Designer and Production Manager Jay Michael Jagim.

The Repertory Theater of Iowa is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization founded in 2004 with the vision of creating a professional theater company of national prominence in Des Moines. RTI aims to gain a national profile by becoming an Actor's Equity affiliated theater and a member of the League of Resident Theaters (LORT), joining more than 70 LORT theaters located in cities throughout the nation. RTI is central Iowa's only resident ensemble theatre company.
