Iowa Shares Announces New Members

Iowa Shares has announced its newest members, the Iowa Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the Greater Des Moines Music Coalition.

Iowa Shares is a statewide coalition of nonprofit organizations working in areas of social change, human rights, environmental protection, the arts and community building, affordable housing, women's issues, aid to families, and animal protection. Nonprofits often need more sources of revenue than may be available through individual fundraising efforts. Iowa Shares fills that need by raising funds for its members through workplace giving campaigns around the state.

Physicians for Social Responsibility educates the public to issues regarding nuclear proliferation, global warming, and environmental degradation. It advocates for policies that promote nuclear nonproliferation, address environmental pollution, and reverse the effects of global warming.

The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition mission is to advocate, sponsor, and develop a progressive live music community in Des Moines with the goals of urban revitalization, economic development, and retention of Iowa's youth.

Amy McBeth, Iowa Shares Membership Co-Chair noted, "Iowa Physicians for Social Responsibility is a former member of Iowa Shares, and we're really happy to have them back with us. We're also very excited about the Des Moines Music Coalition joining. I'm sure they will bring added energy to Iowa Shares in the Des Moines area and they also provide Central Iowa donors with another great choice for giving."
