The Englert Theatre presents Horse Feathers on Wednesday, June 22 at 8:00 PM.
Portland based Horse Feathers stands out among folk bands performing today. Their chamber folk music features strong songwriting, complex string arrangements, and vocal harmonies. Horse Feathers' rich sound will be especially striking in the historic Englert Theatre.
Led by singer and principle songwriter Justin Ringle, the current touring lineup consists of Nathan Crocket (violin), Catherine Odell (cello), and Sam Cooper (multi-instrumentalist). Horse Feathers' third album Thistled Spring was released April 2010 on Kill Rock Stars to wide critical acclaim. The band has also been featured on NPR's Mountain Stage, Pitchfork, and Spin.
Horse Feathers' concert is part of the Intimate at the Englert Series. Intimate at the Englert (approx. 75-100 audience members) events bring both the audience and the performers onstage together: the connection between artist and audience is direct and electrifying. The series is sponsored by Downtown Iowa City, University of Iowa Community Credit Union, and Little Village with added support from M.C. Ginsberg.
