DM Playhouse Opens THE GOLDEN GOOSE Today
The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents "The Golden Goose," today, Nov. 21. This story is the latest in the 2014-15 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at the Playhouse, today, Nov. 21, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $6 per person, adults and children. November's featured story is "The Golden Goose." A father had three sons, but only one was unselfish enough to help a hungry, old man. Will the man's gift of a golden goose (with especially sticky feathers) be enough to make the gloomy princess giggle?
Join the Clubhouse at the Playhouse Gang each month, October-May, as they dramatize a favorite story using their imaginations and the costume pieces and props they find in their magic trunk. Audience members learn the Clubhouse pledge and secret handshake, and listen for the word of the day.
Upcoming shows in the 2014-15 season include "The Gingerbread Man," Dec. 12, 2014; "Snow White," Jan. 23, 2015; "The Mitten," Feb. 13, 2015; "Fin M'Coul," Mar. 6, 2015; "The Leopard's Drum," Apr. 17, 2015; and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," May 15, 2015.
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
