DM Playhouse to Present THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER, 12/13

The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents "The Elves and the Shoemaker," Friday, Dec. 13. This story is the latest in the 2013-14 season of Friday Funday, a creative participatory story theatre program for children ages 4-6. Performances are at The Playhouse, Friday, Dec. 13, at 9:30 and 10:30 AM, and 1:30 PM. Shows are approximately 45 minutes in length. Admission is $5 per person, adults and children. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling The Playhouse box office at 515-277-6261.

December's featured story is "The Elves and the Shoemaker." In this story, the shoemaker and his wife have nothing left to eat but two crusts of bread, and nothing to make shoes with but one piece of leather. Some kindly elves tiptoe in and work to make the holiday season magical.

Join the Clubhouse at The Playhouse Gang each month, October-June, as they dramatize a favorite story using their imaginations and the costume pieces and props they find in their magic trunk. Audience members learn the Clubhouse pledge and secret handshake, and listen for the word of the day.

Future shows for the 2013-14 season features "The Elves and the Shoemaker," Dec. 13, 2013, "Pinocchio," Jan. 24, 2014, "The Mitten," Feb. 14, 2014, "Caps for Sale," Mar. 7, 2014, "Sleeping Beauty," Apr. 11, 2014, "The Three Little Pigs," May 16, 2014, and a special Friday Funday event, "The Cat in the Hat," June 26-28, 2014.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
