About the show: An inspiring family saga based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize winning novel. The Color Purple is the unforgettable story of two sisters who remain loyal to one another across time, distance, and silence. One of them, Celie, abused from a young age and estranged from her sister, is motivated by the free-thinking women she encounters to triumph over adversity and find her unique voice in the world. Set to a joyous score featuring jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues, this is a story rich with passion, pain, inspiration, and an indomitable love of life.
