The regional premiere of Conor McPherson's Tony Award-winning play "The Seafarer" is coming to The Dairy Center in Boulder this December.

The play, one of the most frequently produced plays at regional theaters around the country, is about four Irish drinking buddies gathering on Christmas Eve, and one of them has to play poker with the devil for his soul.

The production had a smash-hit four-week run in Denver, where it played to sold-out houses and received rave reviews last spring. It will be performed at the Carsen Theater in The Dairy Center, 2590 Walnut St., Boulder, CO 80302 at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (except for Saturday, Dec. 14) and 2 p.m. Sundays. December 6-21. Tickets are $25, $22 Senior, $15 Student and available by calling 303-444-7328 or online at www.thedairy.org

The production is a collaboration between Ashton Entertainment and key creative members of the Paragon Theatre ensemble, including SEAFARER director Michael Stricker.

The cast features John Ashton, whose credits include a successful run as the domineering writing instructor in Boulder Ensemble's fall production of Seminar, as well as a featured role in the final season of "Breaking Bad;" and Kevin Hart, who starred in Conviction at the 59E59 Theater in New York. Hart, along with Steef Sealy and Warren Sherrill, received Best Actor nominations from the Colorado Theater Guild for their performances in the Denver premiere of "The Seafarer".

Stricker is the Director of the Northglenn Arts & Humanities Foundation and Cultural Programs Supervisor for the City of Northglenn. Set Designer is Stuart Barr, technical director of the Department of Education for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.

"We're very excited to be bringing this incredible show to The Dairy Center," said Ashton. "This is a beautiful play with some serious subject matter, a lot of humor and a lot of heart."
