Phamaly Theatre Company to Host THEN + NOW Free Silver Anniversary Celebration Tomorrow

By:

25 years ago, five actors in wheelchairs were being turned away at auditions before even saying a word. "We don't have a role that you could play," they would hear. They dreamt of a place where they and others with disabilities could perform in a non-discriminatory environment. With the founding of PHAMALY (formerly known as the Physically Handicapped Amateur Musical Actors League), that dream came alive.

25 years later, Phamaly Theatre Company has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts for its high quality productions and significant contributions to the community. We now perform musicals, dramatic and comedic plays, plus original works year-round throughout the Denver Metro region. Phamaly has also toured schools and venues across the state of Colorado.

Phamaly Theatre Company presents Then + Now - 25th Anniversary Celebration on Wednesday, May 7 @ 7 p.m. at the

Broomfield Auditorium, 3 Community Park Road, Broomfield, CO 80020.Tickets are FREE and available only at the door.

Past and current Phamaly members take the stage to perform song, dance and comedy from the company's first 25 years. Musical numbers include songs from "Fiddler on the Roof," "Man of La Mancha," "Anything Goes," " Mame," "Little Shop of Horrors," "Side Show," "The Wiz," "Urinetown," "Beauty and the Beast" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Phamaly is an award-winning Colorado based Theatre Company comprised entirely of performers with a wide variety of physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities. Phamaly's mission is to inspire people to re-envision disability through professional theatre.
