  3. COME TOGETHER - A BEATLES TRIBUTE CONCERT

From Love Me Do to Let It Be, City Theater Company turns 21 with a little help from their friends for the 2014-2015 season kick-off: COME TOGETHER, an evening of Beatles music at World Café Live at The Queen. Wilmington-based rocker Joe Trainor produces and directs the one-night only event, which features musicians and actors from throughout the company’s history. The show is a career-spanning retrospective of the Fab Four’s song catalog, mixing up #1 hits like She Loves You and A Hard Day’s Night to fan favorites like Norwegian Wood and The Ballad of John and Yoko. Proceeds benefit City Theater Company.

From the their early days at The Cavern Club, through the psychedelic era and beyond, The Beatles re-wrote the book on popular songs and set the stage for the next 50 years of music. Seventeen singers share vocal duties for this two-hour concert event, backed by a six-piece rock band, a nine-piece horn section, and a string quartet. Trainor’s goal is to recreate the sound of the classic recordings live on stage.

Founded in 1993, City Theater Company performs contemporary comedies, new works, and classic musicals to critical acclaim in an intimate black box theater on the Wilmington waterfront. Their mission is to create a body of work for the stage that is consistently high-quality, provocative and new; a body of work that takes risks and breaks barriers in order to engage new theater audiences in an exciting exchange of ideas, images and energies.

Singers and musicians include Tonya Baynes, Jim Burns, Matt Casarino, Petra Deluca, Josh Dowiak, Jessica Eaves, Dylan Geringer, Jake Hager, Lew Indellini, Righteous Jolly, Jill Knapp, Kerry Kristine McElrone, Paul McElwee, Dana Michael, Kanako Neale, Kevin Regan, Frank Schierloh, Brendan Sheehan, Julie Snow Regan, Joe Trainor, and Adam Wahlberg.

TICKET DETAILS: General admission $20 is standing room only. VIP admission $40 and features balcony seating and CTC swag. Ticketing fees apply. Performance is Friday, October 3, 2014 at World Café Live at The Queen [Downstairs Live]. Doors open at 7:00 and show begins at 8:00. Tickets available now at queen.worldcafelive.com.
