THE MUSIC MAN National Tour Will Play Waterbury’s Palace Theater

Big League Productions' national tour of Meredith Willson's beloved musical comedy The Music Man comes to the Palace Theater for three performances June 2–4, 2026.

Winner of six Tony Awards, The Music Man tells the irresistible story of fast‑talking traveling salesman Harold Hill, who arrives in River City, Iowa, with plans to swindle its residents into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he has no intention of organizing—despite the fact that he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His carefully constructed scheme begins to unravel when he falls for Marian the Librarian, whose belief in him transforms Hill into a respected member of the community by the final curtain.

Featuring one of musical theater's most treasured scores, The Music Man includes such iconic songs as “Seventy‑Six Trombones,” “Ya Got Trouble,” “‘Till There Was You,” “Pick‑a‑Little,” and “Gary, Indiana.”

This new national tour production is directed by Matt Lenz, whose Broadway and touring credits have earned him a reputation for dynamic, audience‑centered storytelling. Joshua Bergasse—Emmy Award winner, Tony Award nominee, and choreographer for Broadway's Smash—creates all‑new choreography for the energetic citizens of River City.

The creative team also features Ann Beyersdorfer (Scenic Design), Lisa Renkel (Video Design), and Tony Award winner Ken Billington (Lighting Design). The production will showcase the celebrated Broadway costumes designed by Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, bringing iconic visual flair to this inventive reimagining of a timeless favorite.

Producer Big League Productions is celebrating its 31st season of producing and general managing Broadway tours and live attractions around the world. More information can be found at www.BigLeagueProductions.org.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at palacetheaterct.org, by phone at 203‑346‑2000, or in person at the Palace Theater Box Office, 100 East Main Street, Waterbury. Groups of 10 or more can receive special pricing by contacting Deirdre Patterson at 203‑346‑2011.
